Obesity means accumulation of excess fat on the body. Obesity is considered a chronic (long-term) disease, like high blood pressure or diabetes. It has many serious long-term consequences for your health, and it is the second leading cause of preventable deaths in the United States (tobacco is the first). Obesity is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of greater than 30. The BMI is a measure of your weight relative to your height. See medicine’s Body Mass Index Calculator.

Take it from someone who has learnt how to stop smoking after 17 years; you have to make the decision to have your final smoke.
I wrote in a previous article about the necessity to get your mind right first when considering how to stop smoking. It is like anything in life, if you go at this uncommitted you will fail. It took me three months, maybe even longer to have my final smoke. When I first sat down and asked myself the ‘how do I stop smoking?’ question, I set in motion a thought process that led me to smoke free living.

A salad starts with its greens and they make up a large part of the dish. While any type of lettuce can be used, it is the darker green leaves of such lettuces as romaine that adds vitamin A, folic acid and spinach that give the salad more vitamins and supplies iron. The calorie count is the same no matter what the green, but a head of iceburg lettuce has less nutrition than other lettuces. In John Waters humorous essay, 100 Things I hate, he refers to iceburg lettuce as the polyester of greens.

In today’s modern world, healthy living is by many considered becoming a challenge. We tend to live in a world of too many things to do and too little time to do it in. Add to this the work-stress or strained family relationships that many people experience, not to mention the easy accessibility of fast-food and our cars, and then of course there is pollution and naturally occurring toxins in the environment around us. Yes, indeed, ‘healthy’ living can be a challenge to many of us.

Cellulite is a common condition that can occur in both men and women. Typically skin has three layers, and cellulite occurs when the fat tissue of the inner layer starts pushing the connective tissue in the middle layer causing small dimpling to appear. Unfortunately for women their skin tends to be thinner than men which means they can be more prone to cellulite. The cause itself could be a down to a number of factors – genetics and hormones, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, hormonal syndromes and even bad blood circulation but the great news is that it can be prevented controlled with the right treatments. The main problem with cellulite is it can be quite easy to gain but alot harder to loose or reduce, which is why its better to prevent it rather than fight it.
